Season 1: Episode 2

by | Live Love Lyman, Personal

Two days had passed since they met, but it seemed like no time at all. They had been texting almost non-stop since that night. Tonight was going to be a little different. Tonight, she had a choir concert. If you need to catch up, click here to read Chapter 1.

Let’s give you a little more context.

Abby has been singing her little heart out for as long as she can remember. Before she changed her degree 7 times (literally), she was a music major and wanted to be a choir teacher. Naturally, she was involved in every choir event on campus. This included Cocoa and Carols – the annual winter concert featuring multiple advanced choirs, the orchestra, and the band dressed in elegant black gowns and tuxedos. Not only did this event feature a detailed musical performance (candles, audience interaction, choreographed walking, etc.), but there was also hot cocoa and an annual signature mug to purchase. This was indeed an extravagant night.

Now back to the story.

While they texted about the evening, Calvin learned that the choir would be surrounding the audience instead of standing traditionally on stage. Naturally, he asked where she would be standing in the concert hall. When it was time, he picked her up from her dorm hall like a true gentleman, so she wouldn’t have to walk across campus in her dress and heels. Here they were only two days after meeting, and she was already dressed up like she was going to a black-tie event! He didn’t get to spend much time with her due to class, work, and practice. He took advantage of every opportunity he had, even if it was only one minute from her dorm to the concert hall.

Abby was nervous and excited as she prepared for her concert. She loved performing with her colleagues, but it still made her nervous. The candles were ready. The lights were dimmed. The choir marched elegantly into the auditorium, making their way through the audience so they could surround the hall in a single file line. Once Abby reached her position, she looked up, ready to sing. What she didn’t realize was that Calvin planned to sit right in front of her. And he did. It was a brilliant move on Calvin’s part. Not only did he get to see her in concert, but Abby was only 2 feet away from him. As soon as she saw him, she blushed. Calvin chuckled and smiled right at her. There was his smile again. It really was incredible how his smile made all of her jitters go away, just like the night they met. The more he smiled, the more comfortable she became.

When the festivities were over, he drove her to All About Cha – a bistro serving delicious coffee and decadent desserts. Again, they talked into the wee hours of the night. They were already in love, and it had only been 48 hours.
